On our April school visit, we found significant progress made on the new school building at Ishahayi. The roof is completed, and the window and door frames have been installed. Less than 3 months ago, the land was still waiting to be cleared. Now, we have this!
As the school will add only one additional grade level next year, we plan to leave the rest of the new building as one open space for now. This will give the teachers flexibility to use the large room for the nursery school children to move and play, or for school assemblies.
As you can see, the building is almost ready for it’s finishing touches: paint, lights, fans, desks and chairs. Thanks to the incredible response to this month’s GlobalGiving campaign for online donations, we’re well on our way. There are 8 days left in the campaign, so check back for a full report from us soon!
